Hi @jmp3jster! Vaping does not interfere with microneedling. That being said, microneedling does stimulate collagen production, but vaping will decrease the blood supply and oxygen to the skin and a compromised circulation makes it harder for your cells to produce collagen. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!
Hi there and thank you so much for your question. I am concerned about anyone who vapes and does cosmetic procedures because of the significant impairment to your immune system and vascular system with nicotine. While it does not interfere with the procedure itself, the effects of nicotine on the skin are well known. the blood vessels constrict, release toxins and infection risk is higher because of the negative effects on your immune system. There are many unknown toxic chemicals in vape fumes because the products are not regulated and some sources have shown that vape smoke may actually be more dangerous than regular smoking for it's toxicity. Since smoking and pulmonary disease have been my area of expertise for many years, I hope this is helpful and encouraging to you for the future. I wish you the best in your healthy journey!Sincerely,Dr. Schneider
Vaping will not interfere with the microneedling technique. But if you are getting microneedling to stimulate collagen production, taking nicotine through vaping will decrease the blood supply and oxygen to the skin and a compromised circulation makes it harder for your cells to produce collagen.
Thanks for the question. Nicotine has lots of different effects on your bodies ability to heal and prevent infection. If you continue to use nicotine within 6 weeks of treatment then you will find that you are at a higher risk of infection, but the most likely event is that you won't see as much of an effect than if you weren't vaping. The benefit and drawback of using PRP is that it is just using your own body's healing ability. If that is reduced because of smoking, nicotine, heavy alcohol/drug use etc. then the PRP wont add much to your treatment. However, to answer your question above... vaping will not increase your chances of scarring after microneedlingGood luck!Dr Chris Macdonald
