Is it common for acid reflux to develop with umbilical hernias in adults?

Is it common for acid reflux to develop with umbilical hernias in adults? And is it normal for hernia to get bigger? Can these types of hernias be mistaken for tumors. 25 year old female not overweight non smoker/drinker. I did have 2 c-sections a few years ago... Not sure how serious this is my surgery is scheduled in a few weeks

Yes there is an association between both conditions. The common denominator is increase of intra-abdominal pressure due to weight gain. As the visceral (intra-abdominal) fat increases with weight gain, the pressure builds causing worsening of the umbilical hernia and reflux of the stomach acid. If you have acid reflux, it is not related to your umbilical hernia.  And yes, it is not unusual for umbilical hernias to get larger.  It would be unusual for  and umbiliocal hernia to be mistaken for a tumor as the diagnosis is almost always self evident after examination.  The operation is very straightforward and you should do well.  You have very little to worry about.  Goofd luck.
