I have seroma. The hospital won't drain said it will reabsorb. Any suggestions? (photos)

Thanks for your question. Seromas will decrease in size but if left to reabsorb on their own will tend to generate a seroma cavity which will be permanent (although not harmful). The first question I will ask you is why the hospital is following your abdominoplasty? I hope you can find a plastic surgeon who will drain the fluid.  This is not a dangerous follow up situation.  One who has ethics should do it without hesitation . See link below for more info.

Seromas are treated by aspirating seromas.  That is the best treatment for those.  You need to find a plastic surgeon who is willing to treat someone else's patient.  Long distance surgery is best avoided to avoid such issues.    

This is one of the major reasons that so many plastic surgeons speak out against "medical tourism".  If you have a complication, where do you turn?  Many plastic surgeons will not treat patients who develop problems after surgery out of country.In any event, not all seromas require drainage.  It depends on the time frame following surgery and size and location of the fluid collection.  I tend to drain any collection that is more than say about 50cc as it is very simple thing to do in the office. So I would have drained yours.  But not everyone would agree, and the fact that yours is getting smaller is a good sign.  You should try to establish a patient relationship with a plastic surgeon in your area so someone trained can evaluate you going forward.  You do not want this to become a chronic problem.  Good luck.
