During full hip flexion, there is skin redundancy of the lower abdomen, creating a skin fold on most people. The same skin redundancy happens on the back of the thigh, causing fullness in an area, sometimes referred to as the banana role or the back part of the outer thigh. Because skin is contributing significantly to for this in this area, the area less responsive to weight loss, and also Liposuction. The area is notoriously challenging to treat, especially if an assessment does not include understanding the impact of moderate skin laxity.
