How long before I can conclude my breast fat transfer result?

At three weeks most cells that are not going to survive will have declared themselves.  There may still be some swelling at that time.  I would say that the result at 6 weeks would be darn close to your final result. I doubt that there is a major difference between 6 weeks and 6 months assuming you don't have a lot of bruising or excessive swelling for whatever reason. I think 3-6 months you will know for sure.The overall shape shouldn't change much after the 3 week period, you may just not be as perky and tight perhaps.There may be tenderness which may limit intimate activity slightly at 3 weeks.

Some patient see results after 6-8 weeks, however, we typically wait to the 3 month mark as a litmus test to discern retention.  You want to avoid any manipulation of the breast tissue until 3 months.  You can be intimate, however, try to protect your fat cells as much as possible until that point in time.

You will need at least 6 weeks before you will realize your result.  I do not recommend any pressure for the first 6 weeks.

I perform a natural breast augmentation with fat. This can be removed from any unwanted areas including the breast itself as part of my lipo-lift procedure. I perform the fat grafting in multiple planes including under the muscle to give the best, most natural enhancement. Fat grafting is a great solution for someone who wants to bring their breast size up a cup or so and use natural tissue vs an implant. However, it can also be combined with an implant or used as a secondary procedure to fill in areas that are flat or thin. It does not affect mammograms or breast feeding. It can be a little lump or hard at first but tends to soften over time.

 About 60-70% of the grafted fat survives.  At 6 months you will have a good idea of your results. Some women have a second or third procedure which continues to increase your volume safely. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam.  Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic breast plastic surgery.

Thanks for this question.  I usually tell my patients that at three to six months after surgery what you have is what will stay with you.  That gives a bit of extra time, but they can be sure the fat is staying at that point!!  Another thing that should be stressed is that although you can be intimate with your partner, the breasts should not be manipulated for 3 months after surgery.  This is very important for the fat survival. Choose a board certified plastic surgeon who has much experience with performing this procedure.  Best of luck in your search.

3 weeks is way to early to see final shape and result.  The swelling continues to subside up to 3 months.  I do not encourage my patients to have any squeezing of the breasts for 3 months.  Best wishes.

This is a great question.  I tell my patients that the final breast size and shape after fat transfer will be realized at a minimum of 3 months.  At 3 weeks, this is likely too early to determine if the dead fat is gone and the shape is final.  I also have my patients refrain from vigorous physical activity (running or lifting weights) or sleeping on their chest, which may significantly distort the breast, for 4 weeks.  However, if there is not a lot of pressure during intimacy, then using a very gentle touch should be fine.

It takes a full three months before how much fat will survive will be evident after any face or body augmentation by fat transfer. At just thee weeks after fat transfer into the breasts they will feel very firm and unnatural. Excessive manipulation is not advised at that early time after surgery.
