Yes, men can have a concave profile to their nose. In general, a straight or convex profile is associated with a male face, while a concave profile is associated with female characteristics. This is not a rule, and exceptions for both genders abound (Barbara Streisand and a younger Kevin Bacon are good examples). The shape just changes the overall nature of the face. The best way to see this is with computer imaging (or just try using Photoshop at home, and play with the variations!). It really boils down to personal preference, which is why a surgeon should never tell you what nose you should have. It is your nose you have to see every day, and you should be happy with it.
Generally an excessive concave nasal dorsum is not ideal for men or women, and is a sign of excessive removal of the bone and cartilage in a rhinoplasty. But there is a wide rage of normal, and also personal preference varies.I think a slightly concave dorsum in a male is acceptable, if he finds that attractive.
To answer your question...Men can have anything they want....However... the "ideal" profile for men is a strait nasal dorsum. If a man has a concave profile...it would be considered feminized... The "ideal" profile for a female is a slightly concave dorsum. But again...your plastic surgeon can adjust your profile based on your likes.Hope this helps.
Men can be born with a concave or convex profile. In most rhinoplasty procedures we are shaving down the dorsal hump and giving a straight profile. Women tend to look better with a slightly more concave profile. Some men are born with a concave profile which can be built up with the patient's own cartilage harvested from inside the nasal septum. Mens Nose have the same components as the female nose. usually Mens don't have concave profile and that's the main reason why after a male rhinoplasty you shouldn't have a concave profile. Concave profile will give you a more feminine look, if this is the result you want, is achievable. Discuss with your PS the real possibilities on your case and explain him/her what you really want.Best of Luck,Dr. Luis Redondo
Hi,Yes surely, as a normal person in our daily walk of life we see very handsome man with concave profile. However a convex profile with a tall nose is called manly.Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Its therefore is not an objective perception but is a perceptive human view as how you see it.I think you should go for what you think is good for you. A good nose surgeon can always show you how you may look with a concave nose.I wish you all the best.
After a rhinoplasty, it takes time for the nose to heal and certain activities should be put on hold until the nose has stabilized. Swimming and watersports place the nose under pressure, as well as contribute to nasal congestion. Avoid water recreation for at least 3 weeks. The skin is...
As my colleagues wisely admonish this must be directed by your surgeon. These medications when used long term can thin the mucus membranes, so use of these strong steroid prescriptions must be monitored.
The small suture bump you appreciate is likely just edema from the sutures. This will most likely resolve with time as uou are early in your post operative period. This will be monitored by surgeon though your follow up visits. All the best in your recovery!, Dr. Gina Chu
