You should follow all of her or his pre-operative and post-operative instructions.Robert Singer, M.D., FACSLa Jolla, California
It is always best to check with your rhinoplasty surgeon to see what their recommendations are on medications before after a rhinoplasty procedure. In our practice, it is acceptable to have patients continuing to take Flonase nasal spray to control their allergies during the pre-and postoperative phase.
Dear jj27, It is always best to check with your surgeon to see what their policy is regarding medications and their usage before and after rhinoplasty surgery. In my practice all medications are okayed through the anesthesiologist that will be used prior to surgery. At the preoperative appointment we will advise the patient of what medications to stay on and what their proper dosage should be. We will also approve what post operative medications should be continued or avoided until further notification. Make sure and discuss your question regarding nasal spray with your surgeon prior to surgery and he/she will direct you as they see fit. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
