Lip augmentation 0.5 ml or 1 ml? and nurse or doctor? Thank you. (photos)

Question

Hi, I would like to get a lip filler but not an obvious ones like a big pout. My questions are - Would I benefit just half a mil (0.5 ml) as I really want just a bit - Is there a big difference between getting the procedure done with a cosmetic nurse and a doctor. As many laser clinics offer lip filler done by a nurse. PS I have a cross bite teeth condition and my lips seem a bit funny when closed, please refer to my pictures Thank you for all the answers in advance.

Dermal fillers are not normally sold in half syringes. If there is a place that does offer that option, it may be too little of an amount to notice a difference. You can have more injected and still receive a nice, subtle look. In my practice, I do my patients' filler injections myself. I’m sure that the nurses can give great results as well. But, if you have any doubt about any of the nurses in the offices that you may go to, it would be best to do some research on them beforehand.

You have naturally beautiful lips. If you are determined to have your lips augmented please start with 0.5 ml only. Make sure that upper and lower lips are proportionally augmented. It is very easy to create unnatural, disproportional and fake lips as we see quite often. Always remember - you are after aesthetic enhancement and not body modification. Make sure that whoever does the injections will maintain your natural shape and proportions in the context of your entire face. Nurse or MD? The title alone will not predict the outcome.

Thank you for your question and pictures. Dermal fillers are a great option for lip augmentation and improve symmetry of the lips. Usually at least 1 ml of dermal fillers is needed for best results. It is always best to see an expert for optimal outcome. I hope this help. All the best, Dr Michon

this is a very good question. from the photos that you have included, you have beautifully shaped lips and good proportion to each other. what i can't tell is their proportion to your face as this is also important. i would almost be reluctant to add any filler but if you wanted a bit more volume, you would certainly start with a small amount. the lips are funny, though, as they do absorb quite a bit of filler. if you imagine filling the upper lift, upper right, lower left, lower right of your lips, you can see that with 0.5mls you would be putting very little in to each quadrant. as far as the injector, lips can be very tricky to do well and they are an important part of  your features. just make sure that whoever is doing this for you has lots of experience especially with your lips as you would not want to alter the shape. hope this helps.
