How much is swelling versus underarm fat? (Photo)

I am 11 days post op, 2.5 lb (total) anchor reduction and for the most part am very happy with my results. Due to the amount of excess tissue under my arms, I asked to have the incisions extend to remove as much as possible. (I wasn't really concerned with the scarring). I'm now wondering if I should have added lipo as well. (I did this through insurance so lipo was extra). At this point, considering I didn't have drains, how much may be swelling versus fat?

Thanks so much for reaching out. It is hard to tell this early in your postoperative course. This may very well be swelling. I would give it at least 3 to 6 months to decide whether or not the swelling is gone away or that additional Liposuction might be helpful.I hope this helps :-)

All looks good at the moment and you need to leave things to settle and for the swelling to settle. This can take a number of months and will improve.

Thanks for the question and photos.You are too early in the recovery stage to decide if liposuction would be necessary.  Give it 6 months then assess the skin and fat situation.Best of luck with your continued healing.Dr T

It looks like the same as before surgery. This can be a combination of fat and loose skin.  I would have to examine you in person to be sure.

Based on your photos, your post-op recovery is going well. It is too early to tell swelling versus fat. Give it time. If the fat there still bothers you, liposuction can easily be done to correct. Best wishes.
