Hard lips after Restylane. Any suggestions?

Swelling can last up to 14 days in some patients.  I would continue to ice the injected area off and on and Schedule a follow up visit with Injecting MD at 14 days to discuss your results.  Hyaluronidase is not needed at this time.  If symptoms worsen, please contact your doctor.

Thank you for your question. It is common to have some swelling, bruising and tenderness after lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid fillers which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. You can help reduce swelling by applying cold compresses to the treated area. As HA fillers are not permanent you can have them dissolved with hyaluronidase if unhappy with the results. If you have any other concerns please follow up with your injector. Best of Luck!

Your recovery sounds perfectly normal for six days. Swelling and tenderness can persist for 14 days in some patients. The lips are very sensitive and even a little residual bruising or swelling can feel firm and sore to the touch. Ice and moisture (like ChapStick) will help. The product will soften naturally. I'd avoid hyaluronidase unless something persists beyond two weeks. Be well, Dr. M
