I have a hard, painful and swollen lip 6+ months after the first Juvederm was injected?

I have 0.5ml injected in September and an added 1ml in October, up until last month i have been 100% happy with the results. I have had small lumps form at 3 or 4 or the injection points. Also, this week i have been unwell, just a common cold, but my lips have swollen so much and the filler seems to be harder than ever, it causes slight pain when pressure is applied. Is this due to an infection, the cold or just a side effect of the filler?

Given your history I would schedule to see your doctor who injected you so they can ascertain from a physical examination whether this is an infection or another cause of a lump and treat accordingly.

Thank you for your question. I recommend having a follow up with your injector for evaluation to determine if this is an infection or another cause. However, he/she may want to dissolve your filler to be on the safe side. Best of Luck!

This is common and most likely to be a cross antigen reaction. In most cases it can be settled down with some anti-inflamattories over the next few weeks.
