Extremely few board certified plastic surgeons perform cosmetic hip implants nationwide. Because of this it is crucial to do your research and find a surgeon that has the experience, even if you have to travel a long distance to have it done right the first time. Like any surgery, the first time around has the absolute best chance for aesthetic and/or functional success and that revisions for botch-jobs almost never achieve as good results. Find a specialist that can show you good before and after photos of actual patients, can explicitly describe the procedure and recovery to you, has plenty of positive reviews and seems overall respected in her/her community, and someone you trust and simply feel comfortable with. Unfortunately fat grafting to the hip area is frequently met with poor success because, again, there is no muscle there to place the fat into and thus is does not survive. Another thing is, if you are asked to purposely gain weight (i.e. fat) for the procedure, the fat you lose first as you get back to your baseline weight after surgery is that very same fat that was transferred into your buttock/hip...so don't fall victim to this recommendation. Glad to be of help.
Dear Diane, Posting your back and side view pictures of your butt would have been helpful.I assume that your goal is to achieve round hips and fill in the all too common hips indentation. I have been doing butt implants surgery over the last 18 years and performed the surgery on over 600 patients. My technique, which is using oval round ultra soft silicone implants placed in the subfascial plane, gives you both nice projection and round hips, which can not be achieved with the intra muscular technique. So, find an experienced board certified plastic surgeon who performed the sub fascia technique in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with nice 'S' curve, nice projection, round hips and natural look. Best of luck, Dr Widder

Lower body contour enhancement with implants is very effective. There are many styles of implants and several different approaches, so it is important to work with a surgeon who has had a great deal of experience in this arena. Be sure to look at your surgeon's portfolio of pre- and post-op pictures so you can see the types of results that are reasonable to expect.I have been placing off-the shelf and custom-fabricated implants for more than 20 years and would be glad to answer questions for you.

Thank you for sharing. An open wound at this stage of recovery needs is not normal and needs the attention of your surgeon immediately. If the correct size implant is chosen, your wound should start to heal one week after your procedure. If the implant is too large it can prevent the incision ...
