When do butt implants “drop”?

Very similar to breast implants, buttock implants placed intramuscular gradually drop over a period of 6 to 7 months. Initially they are high and kind of smashed with little projection in the bottom half. This changes over time as the implants drop and push out and actually create more projection in the mid/lower buttock. Stanton Anatomic buttock implants tend to yield more natural projection in the lower half when compared to round implants.  Glad to be of help. 

It takes some time for your implants to drop, especially if your implants are sub muscular.  The muscle can be very tight and can raise the implant every time you contract.  Give it some time.  Your implants should drop eventually. 

Over time intramuscular buttock implants can drop or thin out tissues for several months.  The buttock does have the tendency to soften as spasm and swelling decrease and the shape may change.  Recovery varies from patient to patient and depends upon the technique, type of implant, and site of placement that the doctor uses, as well as the level of activities in your daily routine.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
