I have been reading a lot online about when I can introduce sitting again. Some articles say two weeks, some say six weeks. I only got butt implants (no fat transfer), so I’m wondering what the right amount of time is for me.
Answer: Sitting time after butt implants surgery. Dear Emily, There are 2 main techniques for butt implants surgery - intra muscular and sub fascial. The earlier one is more painful and recovery time is quite long. I use the sub fascial technique and my patients are permitted to sit right after surgery as long as they are sitting leaning forward. If you notice, we sit on our thighs and not on our butt, so, for office work, you can return to work after one week. Obviously, follow your surgeon's recommendation in that regard and hopefully your surgeon is quite experienced with that procedure. Best of luck, Dr Widder

Answer: Sitting after gluteal implants Thank you for your question regarding gluteal implants. No sitting for 10 days. After 10 days, sitting with the assistance of a special pillow that slips under the thighs is recommended for short periods of time. 3 weeks for resuming light cardio and 6 weeks for weights and yoga. All the best to you!

Answer: When can I start sitting after butt implants? You should ask your PS as he or she is ultimately responsible for your care after surgery. Most PSs will recommend that pressure not be placed on the buttocks for 2 to 4 weeks after surgery. Standing every 30 minutes or so is helpful as is sitting forward with pillows underneath the thighs. In an uncomplicated recovery, easing back into strenuous exercise at 6 weeks would not be unreasonable.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Sitting with butt implants. Hello and thanks for your question! Usually it is recommended to wait 2-3 weeks before resting your body weight on the implants. It is also up to your tolerance, if you notice extra swelling or tenderness, it may be necessary to remain off of the area for a few more days.

Answer: Recovery from buttock implants If you have already had buttock implants, it is best to follow the recommendations of your surgeon. Otherwise, this is generally what i advise my patients: The first 2 weeks is the most challenging with swelling, tightness, and discomfort. Also sitting is prohibited for these 2 weeks. Patients may return to work after 2 - 3 weeks as sitting and basic daily activities become easier. For those whom work from home, return to work resumes much sooner if they can work standing, kneeling, and/or lying down reclined in the "dentist chair" position. After 2 weeks patients may sit for up to 30 minutes at a time then stand up or take a short walk for 15 - 30 seconds before sitting back down, 3 weeks for up to an hour, and at 4 weeks unlimited. At 3 weeks patients can resume upper body exercises while standing only, at 4 weeks upper body exercises while seated may be added. By 6 weeks, all restrictions are lifted as life nears normal again, all exercise (including squats and lunges) and sports may be resumed again but at low intensity. Like breast implants, around 5-6 months postop the body has adapted to the implant as a foreign object so it recognizes it as self.
