Question

Hi, I have tried CoolSculpting and am very happy with the results, but I am really keen to find out if there is a list of laser treatments approved by FDA somewhere (like an official FDA site) . It will be most kind if someone could provide me with a list of FDA approved laser treatments. Googling does not really help as it brings up everything approved and experimental. FDA.gov provides consumer updates on liposuction. Laser liposuction is good for removing stubborn areas of fat, but lacks skin contouring and shaping. For best results with liposuction, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, there is not a website that lists the FDA approved devices for fat destruction and body sculpting. This list is also constantly changing. Some of the more popular devices approved by the FDA include: CoolSculpting, Vanquish Me, SculpSure, Liposonix, and UltraShape. Some of the minimally invasive devices include laser lipolysis, BodyTite, J-Plasma, and ThermiTight. Finally, some of the less traumatic liposuction devices include Tickle Lipo, Vaser Lipo and Body Jet.This list is far from complete but gives you an idea of the most popular devices in use for Body Sculpting. At our office we use, SculpSure, the most advanced technology in fat reduction via lasers. SculpSure was FDA approved in May 2015 and it is the ONLY FDA approved fat reduction treatment via thermo lipolysis, in which the laser heats the skin to kill the fat cells. It is a very convenient and easy way to kill those fat cells permanently through the 25 minute treatment. The treatment itself will reduce the fat in the targeted area up to 24%. Even if there was one, the product list would change on a regular basis and the data on the site not presenting peer-reviewed information.The key to answering your question is to narrow your query. Give the fat that you were pleased with the amount of body change from Coolsculpt (typically 22% of the thickness of your fat), than you are satisfied with mild body changes.Combining good nutrition (avoiding carbohydrates), aerobic and muscle strengthening exercise (30 minutes five days a week minimum), and optimizing your body's hormone levels is an excellent start.Deciding on other non-surgical options (variables to determine the best choice are: skin tightening, fat reduction, cellulite treatment, stria improvement) versus surgical options (liposuction compared to high-definition or 4D or total body definer techniques) all yield different body contouring outcomes. The limitations of laser liposuction (I teach all techniques including laser) is that the surgical duration is significantly increased, the cost is increased, and except for only one laser (ALMA), the laser injures fat cells, negating the ability for fat transfer.
