Can I still drink my protein shakes pre-op?

Question

I drink Vega Protein shakes for breakfast and dinner. I looked at the list of what it contains and nothing is listed that is on my no no list. Can I still drink my protein shakes?

Thank you for your question. Protein shakes can be extremely beneficial to the healing process when taken before and after surgery. As long as the ingredients do not include any blood thinners like omega 3 fatty acids or fish oil, or any of the ingredients you are informed to avoid prior to surgery then you will be fine.With kind regards,

discuss what medications, supplements, protein drinks, and vitamins you are taking, both
prescription and over the counter, with your plastic surgeon and have him or
her decide what you should and should not be taking. Your surgeon should be
certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the
American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). It is important to
follow all pre and post-operative instructions.
