Botox lip flip vs gummy smile?

Hi! I had Botox for my gummy smile a year ago and wasn’t very happy with the results. I felt my smile flattened and looked too different. However my gummy smile and upper lip curling is still an insecurity for me. What is the difference in doing a lip flip and would this be a good option for me?

I encourage you to begin by visiting with an experienced injector to discuss your concerns.  From your description, it sounds like treatment for a gummy smile is indicated and not a lip flip.

The location to fix a gummy smile is typically near the nose to lower the lip, while a lip flip is injected directly about the pink lip to evert the lip.

A "Lip Flip" is a technique used to bring the upper lip outward, making it more full with volume. This technique does not improve a gummy smile. Injection technique is very important. Without knowing your injectors' techniques, amount of Botox units, and how often you've been receiving treatments, it is important to evaluate this online. Just know that not all hope is lost for the Gummy Smile. You may just need to readjust your treatment with your current injector of seek a new one with different technique and experience. If seeking potential treatment, I strongly recommend that you follow up with an experienced injector.

If you are worried about the gummy smile, I would not suggest having the lip flip done if you are thinking that the lip flip might help. A botox lip flip will flip your upper lip up a bit which in some cases can expose the gums even more when you smile.
