What can I do about indented scar after stitches were taken out? (Photos)

Will subcision and filler help with this? I had to get stitches after a facial injury. After the stitches were taken out I was led with an indented scar.

Thank you for your question and photos.  If the scar has been present for at least one year, it is a good time to be evaluated by a board certified plastic surgeon.  Your options may include subcision with a dermal filler or a scar revision. Best of luck to you!

Depending on your examination, you may have a depressed scar that may be treated with fillers. We prefer using microdroplet Silikon1000 for permanent results whenever feasible. We do not offer subcision for any of our patients with scarring. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

I would first subcise and then fill with saline. If this fills well with saline I would then have you come back to use a filler. Other option would be to inject saline several times and see if that helped as occasionally it will.

First of all we have to make sure that the scar has healed completely and it normally takes 9 to 12 months for that to happen.  Once the scar has matured, you can have the scar re-evaluated by plastic surgeon and determine if and what should be done. There are three main ways in which this type of a scar can be approached. Number one, is to do just what you had mentioned and that is subcision with a filler. Number two, the procedure involves subcision and filling out the indentation with your own fat. And number three is to have the scar completely revised. Fillers are temporary and will need to be repeated once or twice per year. A scar revision is likely to give a better result.
