As I am African American with deep ethnic features, I do not want a radical departure from my true identity. I have a wide nose bridge, bulbous tip and somewhat of a droopy alar. I only want a refined bridge, mostly from the frontal view. I do not wish to alter my tip nor reduce my alar but change the shape of the alar by slightly retracting them without the nostrils being prominent.

Thank you for your question! It is not absolutely necessary to use rib cartilage (cadaveric or otherwise) for an African American rhinoplasty. It is, of course, an option. I certainly advise you to do your research and meet with a surgeon who has experience doing African American rhinoplasty. ...
