This started when I entered puberty, I kept sweating and always wore multiple layers of clothing to mask the sweat stains. Apperantly, I have also began to produce a bad odor down there since everytime I sit next to someone they cover their nose or act really uncomfortable I shower 3 times a day so the problem is not because I'm not clean, this is affecting my social life a lot and I really need help, I have tried various men powders and they don't work on me. Please help me.
Answer: Excessive Sweating Hello,There are a variety of techniques to decrease sweating: Botox- Botox is helpful in that it can decrease the production of sweat but not odor. It typically lasts about 6 months in the under arm area. Miradry- Miradry uses microwave energy to destroy apocrine and eccrine glands. It is better at eccrine gland destruction than apocrine and is currently only used on the underarm area. RF needling- Can be used anywhere on the body and can destroy both apocrine and eccrine glands. Has become the procedure of choice in my practice for hyperhidrosis due to its effectiveness. Nerve ablation-Not commonly performed anymore as side effects are often worse than treatment and effectiveness is often limited. Oral medications- Too many side effects to be effective. Topical medications- Works by blocking glands. Many patients state how not effective mechanism. Best, Anil Shah

Answer: Buttocks hyperhidrosis. What treatment options are available? Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your sweating and malodor issues. If you in fact have hyperhidrosis I would advocate for Botox placement to help stem sweat's production. I would counsel you to see an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon as you may also have a different process referred to as hidradenitis suppurativa. Hope this helps.

Answer: Lumbar sympathectomy or miraDry for the groin and buttocks Lumbar sympathectomy canbe done for sweating below the belt line. I do not recommend this procedure for men as it may cause sexual impotence. We are the first and only center in the US which has been performing miraDry for buttocks and groin. It is off label FDA use for miraDry. Regional treatments may help improve your quality of life. H Karamanoukian MD FACS Center for Excessive Sweating, established 1999

Answer: Sweating on the buttocks - botox can help. Hi,Botox is a good option for sweating on the body, where it may be difficult to consider other treatments. If it is mostly on the groin and along the natal cleft, then BOTOX is the best option. If on a larger area, newer options like the radiofrequency may be given a try - yes, but these are just that, newer options - it would be good to wait for more scientific evidence on that. Before doing the treatment, the usual process is a blood work up to look for any organic cause like a thyroid dysfunction, followed by the starch iodine testing to map out the areas to be treated with BOTOX. The results stay for a good 6- 9 months, but reported literature suggests an even longer period of relief. For the area of your concern, topical anesthesia might be adequate, but we have recently switched to NOO inhalational anesthesia, and we are very happy with the pain reduction.Good luck!
