I'm 4 days post BA with donut lift. My breast are high and nipple sit low. They look abnormal. I have seen pictures of women who's breast look nicely filled within a few days of having BA. Why do some women have the franken boob issue? Is there anything I can do to help the situation? I'm feeling so inpatient and bummed with my results.
Answer: Frankenboobs. Is there anything I can do to help the situation? Congratulations on having undergone the breast augmentation procedure. Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes to accurate assessment and advice. Generally speaking, breast implants will "drop" into the pocket that was created during surgery. The rate of breast implant "settling" may depend on factors such as size of breast implant pocket dissected, tightness of the overlying skin/muscle layers, and size of breast implant utilized. Normally, it takes about 3-6 months (for some patients longer) to see the final result. Many of my patients report that as the swelling around the breast implants (for example, in the sternal area) decreases, they feel that their breasts appear more projecting (and that they have better "cleavage"). Also, in my opinion, the "drop and fluff” phenomenon does hold some validity; as breast implants “settle”, many patients feel that their breasts actually look larger. Similarly, it takes a few months for the press to "soften" in most cases. Most of my patients tell me that their breast implants feel "part of them" somewhere between 3 to 6 months after surgery was performed. There is definitely a physiologic and "psychological" (body image) adaptation process that occurs, at differing rates for every patient, for patients who undergo any type of aesthetic surgery, including breast augmentation surgery. Understandably, patients often experience significant emotional "ups and downs" around the time of surgery. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.

Answer: Drop & Fluff Hello,Thank you for your question and photos. It appears that most of your implant volume is still sitting high, as expected, and in addition to pectoral swelling this creates the effect you see now. I would expect this to gradually improve over the next few months so you must be patient. Try to wait until 6 months post op before evaluating your results. Talk with your Plastic Surgeon about any ongoing concerns. All the best

Answer: Frankenboobs? You are doing great and look appropriate for just one week since surgery. The good thing for you is you had the proper procedure performed: an implant with a slight breast lift (circumareolar) was necessary and you had this done correctly. Now it's just a matter of waiting for the skin envelope to relax and the implants to drop into position. There's no good explanation for why some people drop faster than others, but the point is, good results take time. Have patience and you will end up happy.

Answer: Early postop It is very early postop and the implants need to drop, the skin stretch and the wounds heal. This process can take a few months and you cannot judge your result at the moment. Keep in touch with your PS.

Answer: Frankenboobs. Is there anything I can do to help the situation? Hi and thanks for the question and photos. It takes on average 8 weeks for breast implants to settle into place. Quite often if the implant appears to have a perfect location right after surgery, the breast may not look very good 2-3 months later. So hang in there and you should have a very nice result in 2 months. Best of Luck - Dr. Hardy...
