I am scheduled for a tummy tuck in a few weeks. I am wondering if my skin is prone to keloids from piercing's, if that means that my scarring will also do the same?

Answer: Does the presence of an ear piercing keloid predict poor scarring elsewhere? Hi and welcome to our forum!Ear piercing "keloids" may be the result of an inflammatory reaction to the metallic earring backing, a smoldering infection, or may be the result of a true keloid tendency. Does a keloid tendency run in the family? Do you have scars elsewhere that have healed poorly? There are modalities to inhibit the development of adverse scarring. Moisturization and the application of silicone gel sheeting to the healing scar may retard thick scarring.Discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.Best wishes...
