44yr mom of 3. Had weight loss surgery in 2015 highest weight 365, maintaining 215-210 for several years. Had consultation wanted Fleur de Lis but PS said no, said I would be happier with regular abdominoplasty and muscle repair results. 7mon PO. ln recovery he told husband I would need revision? I had partial hysterectomy at same time and he blames excess skin on that procedure at my one week FU appt. He has seen me 1X after surgery. He said 6lb skin removed, lower abdomen only. Ask for refund?
Answer: You've been lied to Your surgeon is blaming residual skin redundancy on your hysterectomy when it was in fact a vastly insufficient surgery on his part. A refund will likely not happen as, despite the poor outcome, it does not rise to the level of 'outside the standard of care', something necessary to win a malpractice lawsuit. You will need a revision of your tummy tuck, extending it posteriorly to a full body lift and anteriorly as part of a fleur de lys component. Your breast lift could also be improved upon.

Answer: Revision Based on the submitted photos you have obvious room for improvement to your results. A revision would take up more of the excess fat and skin and give a better result and improved contour. Your preoperative photos display a good argument for a fleur de lis approach.

Answer: Fleur-de-lis abdominoplasties Thank you for your question and photos. Every plastic surgeon approaches their patients with their best intentions in mind. I am sure that your surgeon did as well. Unfortunately, you are probably looking for a revision, likely a fleur-de-lis procedure, to achieve you best possible outcome. A frank discussion between you and your surgeon is the best option.

Answer: Return of redundant tissue is not unusual As a part of excess weight, skin is stretched, and loses elasticity. Immediately after a body lift, the skin is tight, and contour is much improved. However, a year after the procedure patients note return of skin laxity. Often this is addressed during secondary procedures such as breast lift, brachioplasty, thigh lift, etc. However, a realistic view of the nature of the skin is important. It may be impossible to obtain pre obesity skin tone and body shape, no matter how skilled the surgeon. You overall have a good result. I would suggest approaching the surgeon for touch up work.

Answer: SECOND OPINION!!! Hello! I can see a slight change, you should try to have your surgeon see you again and discuss a second surgery to achieve better results, a refund is not certain to be given to you, due to the expenses of surgery, anesthesia, and so on... but maybe an adjustment in the price of your next surgery. Once you see your surgeon and discuss possible alternatives, you can seek a second opinion. It is always good to make this type of decision once an accurate diagnosis has been made and with a qualified and verified surgeon. You should also review the profile of see the surgeon previous surgeries, and see bodies similar to yours and the results of those surgeries. Good Luck! I am Doctor Díaz, Plastic Surgeon. I would love to help you. I perform surgeries at CECIP Plastic Surgery Clinic, in the Dominican Republic.
