Thank you for your question. There is no way to guarantee that you won't have any bruising or swelling; however, there are some precautions you can take to help minimize the risk. You will want to avoid any blood thinners (i.e alcohol, fish oil, turmeric, NSAIDs, etc). Also, it is recommended that you avoid drinking from straws/bottles for 2 days. I would say light kissing is ok but you will want to avoid anything that could possibly move the filler as it is still malleable after the treatment. It is possible that you may swell with your lip filler treatment. You can use ice intermittently after the procedure, keep your head elevated for a couple of days, and use Arnica and bromelain supplements to help control bruising and swelling. It is also best to avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, Vitamin E and fish oils for a week prior to your treatment. Talk to your injector about other helpful hints.
