Dear Physicians, do antibiotics reduce the effectiveness of Kybella? What about Augmentin?

Question

Would taking a ten day prescription of Augmentin, beginning on day 7 after a first Kybella treatment, reduce the effectiveness of Kybella? If it would, is there an alternative antibiotic that would not interfere with Kybella's efficacy? Thanks again.

Taking antibiotics should not reduce the effectiveness of a Kybella treatment.  The antibiotics would not interfere with the method of fat destruction that Kybella produces.

Antibiotics will not affect your Kybella in any way.  Kybella is a bile acid which dissolves fat in a natural way.

No, this shouldn't negatively impact your results. Keep in mind, Kybella is good for dissolving fat under the chin, but a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options. I recommend a combination approach with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. I don't think oral antibiotics will have any significant direct effect on Kybella effectiveness.  All antibiotics have some anti-inflammatory property and how this affects would be unknown.  Certainly, I would recommend that you take antibiotics if it is prescribed for a medical condition.
