I have had 3 Kybella treatments and now have a protruding line down my neck?

I've had 3 treatments and see some improvement but now have a protruding line under my chin and down my neck that wasn't there before. It's slightly off center and doctor isn't sure if it's fat or muscle related. He injected Botox a week ago and no change. Very disappointing after spending $3k. Any experience or advice on this?

Thank you for your question. Sorry to hear about your results. Without an exam or at least some pictures for reference, it is impossible to answer this question. The line could be protrusion of the underlying platysma muscle that is now visible since the fat is reduced. But it is hard to say. Make sure you discuss your concerns with your surgeon or go get a second opinion from another board certified plastic surgeon.Best of luck!

This is difficult to answer without pictures and needs an in-person evaluation. Keep in mind, it takes a series of treatments and a combination approach get the most improvement with non-invasive options like Kybella.  I recommend Kybella with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is the best alternative for contouring the chin. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

I am so sorry that you have had a less than ideal result. Without seeing you in person, hard to say what's going on. It could be that you had loose skin and/or muscle in the neck before Kybella which is now more prominent. I would suggest that you seek a second in person opinion from a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to be assessed.

I'm sorry to hear about your disappointing results with Kybella. Unfortunately, without photos, it is impossible to know for sure what is going on. It could be you have residual loose skin or a prominent muscle band called the platysma. This is best evaluated during a consultation. Definitely seek a second opinion to address this concern.

Hello,
A vertical line under your chin and down your neck may well represent the medial platysma muscle that has become visible due to the fat overlying it being reduced by the Kybella.  Botox will not make a long lasting improvement - at best.  I recommend that you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation and options.  These may include a platysmaplasty with interruption and plication (sewing the bands together) and possibly a lift procedure to tighten the now present bands.  I discuss this risk with my Kybella or liposuction neck patients.

I'm sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the results of your Kybella treatment.  It's impossible to make exact recommendations without assessing you in-person.  That said, in some cases, removing fat with Kybella can exacerbate the appearance of loose skin or can make bands in the platysma muscle more visible.  If your doctor is unable to help, I would recommend that you consider scheduling a second opinion with a cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon.  I hope this helps.
