Is there any weight or size limitation to get CoolSculpting for men? (Photo)

Question

Is it possible for patients, weighing more than 300 lbs, to participate in coldsculpting? Do I need to get to safe weight limit to participate? Just needing to get some of this weight off so I don't stop and gain it back. Any help would be great and thank you for your time.

COngratulations on your weight loss. From your description it appears you are not a good candidate for coolsculpting. I would recommend weight loss before you consider any sort of cosmetic procedures. Best of luck.

CoolSculpting is not for weight loss. It is recommended in those whose BMI is 30 or less. At 300 pounds you need to go on a significant diet program such as the Ideal Protein diet, and if your health permits, a good exercise program. When you lose your excess weight CoolSculpting can help sculpt the areas that are resistant to dieting and exercise. Best Wishes, Maurice Vick MD

Dear Redsox58:Thanks for sharing your photo. CoolSculpting (CS) is tried and true but limited. Despite these limitations, if CS can help motivate you to change your lifestyle to lose and maintain a better weight then it is definitely worth it. Up to 20% of the fat in the suction applicator will undergo programmed cell death, so you can do more than one session per area. Areas of the body where CS has helped my overweight to obese patients socially, psychologically and physically include:the double chin, jowls and lateral neck (to help fit in closed shirt collars and look better), arms (to fit available shirts and jackets),muffin-top, love-handles and smaller front tummy folds. You will still have to lose weight by diet and exercise to maintain the limited fat/weight loss from CS but this may help start you in the right direction. Read the South Beach Diet as a primer to understand the changes in lifestyle required to maintain the satisfaction of eating but with a diet that stimulates proper metabolism.Good luck with your efforts!

Getting treated with Coolsculpting with this weight can lead to lines of demarcation. It's best to use Vanquish for this, to give an overall "debulking" of the adipose tissue. Coolsculpting is better with people which are about 15% of their ideal body weight. See link.

It's better if you could lose the weight before getting CoolSculpting treatments. The technology is meant to shave a few inches to give you that nice V-Shape. If our patients are overweight then we refer our patients to a weight loss program before considering CoolSculpting. It's best to schedule a consultation and talk about your expectations to your provider.

Great question!  As the largest provider of CoolSculpting in NY state, our offices have found that this procedure is ideal for folks who are generally within 20-30 pounds of their ideal goal weight.  There are a lot of folks like yourself who are likely better candidates for a supervised Weight Loss program or a Weight Loss program combined with other technology (such as Laser Lipo Plus) than pursuing Coolscultping right away.  Once you get closer to your goal weight, then that's a good time to consult with an experience CoolSculpting provider for "the final touches".Best of luck!
