In diced cartilage grafting with fascia (DCF), small pieces of cartilage taken from the patient are diced and wrapped in a layer of fascia, a type of fibrous tissue, before being inserted into the nose. The fascia acts as a support structure for the cartilage bits, keeping them stable and making it easier to shape them. This results in a more naturally contoured and smoother nose. Compared to using solid pieces of rib cartilage or silicone implants, the DCF approach has a lower risk of shape distortion, warping, movement, and artificial-looking outcomes. Implants made of foreign materials also come with an increased risk of infection and other complications. Based on my experience with various techniques, I firmly believe that DCF is the most effective for enhancing the nasal bridge in ethnic rhinoplasty cases, both in the short and long term.
