This is a follow up to the question: How accurate should I expect renderings to be? Is it ok if I can’t find before / after photos similar to what I want? - In terms of “liking a surgeons actual results” - does this mean I should be able to find examples similar to what I want on my own face? Or Is it enough to feel that a surgeons work fits the faces of his/her prior patients (but not my own).

Answer: Before/After photos The best way to determine what specific changes will look good on your face, and what changes are surgically possible, is to do your research to find the top facial plastic surgeons and consult with several of them in person. During your consultation, your photos can be computer-morphed to show how the changes to your face will affect your appearance. Answer: Are preoperative renderings accurate? How about before and after photos of other patients? Are preoperative renderings accurate? How about before and after photos of other patients? I think preoperative renderings can be very inaccurate. Most surgeons who use them generally produce a rendering of an excellent result. Yet there is a very high percentage of patients following rhinoplasty who are unhappy with their results. Many of these had a preoperative rendering which they liked much better than the actual result. For that reason I think preoperative renderings such as computer imaging, have the potential to be misleading and cause disappointment postoperatively. as far as finding before an after results that you like, that is very tricky. Every nose is different, and every face is different. Also what patients are seeking is often different. Some are seeking an understated “natural“ result while others want a smaller, cuter , potentially more “done“ looking result. So that a surgeon’s before and after photos will reflect a wide variety of different noses, on different faces, with different goals. If a person if a surgeon has a great deal of experience and has done many different noses and has compiled these on his website or other patient information modality, there should be some nose that is either similar to yours to begin with or has the result that you wanted after surgery. If there are a number of noses and you don’t like any of them there are two possibilities. Either the surgeon doesn’t do work that you like , or you are too difficult to satisfy. If some surgeon’s results please you while others do not then you are not the problem. If you have looked at the work of multiple top rhinoplasty specialists and don’t like any of their results, then perhaps you are too difficult to satisfy.
