It is unlikely that my Dr. will allow me to be completely off Prednisone. My abdomen and sides are huge, but I am skinny every else. I look 5 months pregnant! All my clothes fit weird because my stomach is huge, but everything else is a size small. I just don't know what else to do and would really like to try cool sculpting

Thank you for your question.  Often, Prednisone causes an increase of intra abdominal fat which is not accessible by liposuction, CoolSculpt or any other surgical or non surgical techniques.  Please seek a consultation by a well qualified Board certified Plastic surgeon to evaluate the location of the fatty tissue in question.  If the fatty collection is accessible to treatment, the Prednisone should not negatively impact your ability to have CoolSculpting.  If, however, the fatty collection is visceral (beneath the abdominal wall), CoolSculpting might not be possible.

Many patients with autoimmune diseases have some sensitivity to cold and the fat caused by Prednisone may not be able to be treated in this manner. I would consult with your rheumatologist for their recommendation. Please keep us posted.   Best, Dr. Green

Coolsculpting will help fat you can pinch between your fingers. If you can pinch it you can freeze it.  If you cannot pinch the fat between your fingers the fat maybe fat under your muscle or intraabdominal fat.  If this is the case it will not help. It would be best if you could go to a reputable Coolsculpting provider in your area.
