I am 24 days post op of 3000 FUE grafts. Many of the hairs have a black spot at the penetration point of the scalp. My question is what causes this darkening of the base point of penetration of these hairs. Is it a cluster of hairs, is it hair growing back, is it dead hairs, if so will they grow back, or is it a poorly implanted hair? At this point it gives the appearance of "plugs" which of course is not the desired look... Thank you in advance for the replies.

Answer: If you are having issues after surgery, especially with "black spots" you should contact your doctor.
Thanks for your question. We advise our patients to reduce smoking before and after the surgery. It will not effect your hair grow if you smoke about 5-6 cigarettes per day. But every surgeon has his own after care instructions and it will be better to consult with him/her.
It can take 6 to 12 months after surgery to see results. If you are concerned it is best to contact your doctor. If you would like a second surgery it is also a good idea to contact your doctor.
At 1 month, you are fine to get your hair cut in any way you wish. You can shave, dye, blow dry, whatever you like. After 2 weeks the grafts are pretty firmly planted and can be treated just like your regular hair.
