Sharp tearing pain in right breast in a line from my nipple to my armpit. I am 3 weeks post op. Pain started this morning. I was a 34A and had 370 cc high profile implants under the muscle. The pain occurs with any arm movement. There is no change to the appearance or shape of the breast. The lines on the photo are from my clothing as I have just woken up.

It is not uncommon to have this kind of pain popup when the breasts are "waking up" after surgery. This sounds like a nerve branch related phenomenon, but I would go see your surgeon to make sure everything is ok. You can ice the area to decrease the symptoms. Don't delay in seeing your surgeon. They will come up with a plan to manage the discomfort.Good luck,Dr. Shah

Answer: Pain after breast augmentation Thank you for your question. You are still early in the healing process at 3 weeks. It is not unusual to have pain associated with movement, especially in the outer part of the breast. We frequently will place our patients on a muscle relaxer such as Flexeril for the first 1-2 weeks to help with the muscle spasticity that occurs from stretching. I also will underdissect the outer breast pocket to help keep your breast cleavage centralized during the healing process - the outer breast will stretch and soften over time. This may also account for some of the discomfort you are experiencing. As always, if you have any concerns, call your board-certified plastic surgeon.
