There are hundreds of studies out there looking at implant choices and placement. As surgeons we digest these findings and make recommendations to our patients. Personally I think that submuscular placement decreases the likelihood of capsular contracture. The mammogram benefit seems more difficult to determine but certainly going beneath the muscle doesn't make mammograms any more difficult than on top of the muscle. Be sure to consult with a board certified surgeon with a large experience in breast augmentation to help have these questions answered.

That would indicate that the surgeon is up-to-date on the appropriate techniques.
