Do I need eyelid correction? (Photo)

Thanks for sharing your question and posting your photo. You have a bit of extra skin on the eyelid on the left side of the photo. Blepharoplasty would correct this. I’d probably leave it alone because it’s mild. See if it gets worse over time and have it done when the problem is more prominent. Have an experienced oculoplastic surgeon evaluate and provide guidance. Good luck!

Hello @Thrifty531364, thank you for your question and showing your picture. It is important to remember that not all body parts are the same size or shape. There are generally certain asymmetries you do not need correction. As an example, one eyebrow is different from the other, and the same thing is true when it comes to our eyes. Best wishes! The issue is how you deal with this small difference. Wanting to make subtle changes common and can be reasonable and appropriate. What is not appropriate is if your thoughts fill much of your free time. If you are spending hours per day researching this topic and thinking about this, or if your feelings cause you to avoid work or social situations these feelings are not normal and can indicate body dysmorphic disorder. Those with body dysmorphic disorder are better off working with a mental health professional rather than getting cosmetic surgery. Research shows that those with body dysmorphic disorder and their surgeons often miscommunicate.
