Going back and forth about a sliding genioplasty versus a chin implant. I attached a current photo of my side profile and then my ideal side profile. Would a sliding genioplasty or an implant be more appropriate to achieve this degree of result for my case specifically?

Answer: Sliding genioplasty or implant to get ideal side profile? Thank you for your pictures and questions. The honest answer is that either one would be a reasonable way to achieve your goals. However, the chin implant is a more straightforward procedure with less downtime and an easier recovery and the results are also easily reversible if you change your mind. Hope this helps! Answer: Sliding genioplasty or chin implant to get the ideal side profile A sliding genioplasty is very invasive, and involves breaking the the lower jaw and sometimes the upper jaw which is done in a hospital setting under general anesthesia with an overnight stay at the hospital. It's usually performed when the teeth are significantly out of alignment. Placement of a chin implant is done as an outpatient procedure which takes about 30 minutes under local anesthesia, and patients can walk in and walk out of the operating room. The results from your digital imaging appear very achievable with a chin implant.
