January 2023 I had a mandibular osteotomy to shift my mandible forward and correct and underbite. Unfortunately I now look significantly worse. My profile is well aligned, but my chin is square and very prominent. I consulted with a surgeon who said he would not do a genioplasty because he did not want to disrupt my profile, but my facial proportions are less harmonious and I look masculine. I would prefer to repair that and have an imperfect profile. Open to suggestions and opinions. Thanks!

These 2 surgical procedures can be performed simultaneously or as separate procedures. The genioplasty will improve your jawline from front to back. In addition, the angle between your neck and chin will improve as the chin is positioned forward and balances the lower face.
A more feminine chin can be achieved by reducing the length and width of the chin while setting it forward 3-4 mm. These types of changes can only be achieved with a sliding genioplasty. The procedure is performed in the office with intravenous anesthesia and does not require braces or change...
The cut of the genioplasty is most often performed in a diagonal manner to avoid injury to the Mental nerve. The repositioning sometimes appears to be diagonal but it actually moves in multiple directions of space. Without photos, I cannot be more specific with corrections to your current condition.
