i have an average chin but i believe it would look better with some projection/better shaping. unfortunately my chin is very different when resting and when smiling. when resting, it appears smaller and looks like some projection should be added, but when smiling, it flattens out, gets larger, and goes a bit downward. I would like for my chin to stay the same when smiling and resting face and have a nice shape to it. is genioplasty a good method for my issue?

Genioplasty is probably a pretty good idea.
The issue in regards to your man is that it is small and lacking and projection.

The horizontal projection of your chin looks about right. The shape can be altered by shaving the width of the chin to make it less square. In addition, I would recommend simultaneous submental liposuction to improve the cervical-mental contour.
These 2 surgical procedures can be performed simultaneously or as separate procedures. The genioplasty will improve your jawline from front to back. In addition, the angle between your neck and chin will improve as the chin is positioned forward and balances the lower face.
