Can my wrinkle crease between eyes be improved with Botox? (photo)

I’m wondering if Botox or filler would help with the horizontal lines between my eyes. This wrinkle /cease line always creates a “shadow” appearance in pictures. Interested in Botox but heard about eyebrow drooping.

Neuromodulators (such as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau) and soft tissue fillers like Belotero can improve the appearance of the forehead by reducing lines, wrinkles and folds. Deeper lines and wrinkles need a combination approach with Botox, fillers, lasers, and microneedling/PRP. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist to develop a treatment plan that works for you. Best, Dr. Emer

Botox injected into the glabella (corrugator muscles along the eyebrows and the procerus along the top of the nose) will help soften the horizontal line between the eyes and help prevent it from deepening. A small amount of filler in the wrinkle will help smooth the fold in combination with the Botox.

Thank you for your question and photo. Yes Botox can be used to soften that line and prevent it from getting deeper. You would need injections the glabellar complex with a concentrated dose on the procerus muscle in the center.  I would advise you to go to an experienced injector and consult with them prior to injection. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Thanks for the great question! Botox or any of the other current neuromodulators (Dysport, Xeomin, etc.) work well for horizontal (and vertical) lines between the eyebrows. This area of the face is called the glabella and is one of the areas we target with Botox. The muscle responsible for your horizontal wrinkle is called the Procerus muscle. It is one of the many "brow depressor" muscles in the upper face. By relaxing that muscle, you soften the horizontal wrinkle between the eyebrows and actually cause the brow to raise slightly - not droop.

Neurotoxins (Botox or Dysport) are great to treat horizontal lines between the eyes. These lines are caused by contraction of the muscle at that area and relaxing the muscle alleviates the lines.

I have been injecting Botox in the glabella region for thirty years and filler for this region, over thirty-five years, since the early days with the original Zyderm collagen products. In experienced hands, the risk of eyelid ptosis is quite quite small and when properly injected, problems from fillers is also small. The combination of the benefits of the two is synergistic, i.e. the duration of the benefits of Botox and filler when used together tends to last longer than the duration of either used alone. Make sure that you consult with a board certified aesthetic physician and ask to see his/her personal befores and afters before agreeing to proceed. Best of luck.

Yes, most likely requiring a combination of Botox and fillers but Botox is a good place to start to help limit worsening, and hopefully improve, the horizontal bridge of the nose creases. Treatment here will not impact your eyebrows or eyelids. Hope this helps.

That crease that is forming is caused by the insertion of the Procereus muscle. Botox is the perfect solution for that line. It needs to be placed at the right depth for it to work so make sure you go to an experienced provider. Botox smooths fine lines and wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles directly beneath the skin. Its the muscle contractions that creates the lines. If lines are too deep, fillers can be added.
