There are a few treatment options you can try to make your upper lip appear more voluminous. The first option would be to add volume to your lips with Lip Filler. Lip filler subtly plumps and defines thin lips for fuller, more youthful lips and helps to correct asymmetrical lips for an even, beautiful smile. A second option would be a Botox "Lip Flip". Your lips are fine. You should show upper teeth at rest, as you do. If you want fuller upper lips we can do an augmentation and if you want the sides up more we can do a corner lip lift.

Thanks for your question! There are a few characteristics that we assess when looking at a patient's lips. These include shape, projection, volume, hydration status and symmetry. The shape of your lips with the natural peaked cupid's bow is a feature of a beautiful shaped lip! In order to make an upper lip more proportionate to a bottom lip the best option would be treatment with a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler. Some of our patient's favorite products include the Juvederm and Restylane lines. Adding filler to your lips can also add projection, which would improve the appearance of your upper lip in your side profile. Depending on the lip injection technique used, your upper and lower lips should become closer together at rest. Another great option we use for our patients with small top lips is a "lip flip". The lip flip is done using a neurotoxin like Botox to relax the muscle around your mouth that pulls the lips inward. When we use Botox to relax it, the lip can "flip" up giving it more vertical height. In our practice, we commonly use this is conjunction with lip filler. It is important to see a Registered Nurse in a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon's office who can assess your individual anatomy.
