I was previously measured at V.S at 32B before my surgery. I went for surgery and got 375cc under the muscle. I wanted to go up by 2 cup sizes. (D cup). At my 6th week mark, most of my swelling feels like it has gone down and I went back to the same VS store to get measured. I was told I am only a 34C. I am very disappointed as I got the reassurance from my doctor that 375cc would help me reach my desired goal. Am I overreacting? If so when can I properly get measured and start buying new bras?
Answer: Cup size is unreliable I’m sorry to hear that you’re disappointed with your results. Did you bring in a bra in the size you wanted to be during your implant selection pre-surgery? Bra sizes are not standardized, which means a D cup by one bra brand may be smaller or larger than a D cup in another brand. As a result, basing results on cup size alone can be unreliable. In addition, you are still early on in your recovery. You appear to be recovering well, but please wait at least 3-4 months before assessing your results. That’s how long it can take for your breasts to "drop and fluff".

Answer: Post Op Bra Size Hi Miss32B, I understand your concern. Based on your photos, your results look great! It would be difficult to determine what size your breast will be after surgery, as there would still be swelling of the tissues surrounding the implant. Also, the implants take about 6 months to drop, fluff, and settle into its final position. You should speak with your plastic surgeon for further advice and reassurance. Answer: Beware of Cup Sizes in Breast Augmentation Hello Disappointed, I agree with my colleague that you have a nice result, I definitely see an increase in your breast size from pre-op to post-op. The first thing that I noticed from your post was that you went from a 32B to a 34C. When you purchase a bra the number is the size of your chest right underneath the breast (plastic surgeons call it the inframammary fold [IMF]) and the letter is the actual cup size. The number 32 should still be the same after your breast augmentation, only the cup should change. Many women are wearing the wrong bra (trust me I know from personal experience). Unfortunately your measurement at V.S. was incorrect, instead of going up in cup size they went up in your band by 2" which means your bra is not sitting at the correct position right under your breasts and the cup is not big enough. I would recommend going somewhere where they have greater expertise in measuring women for bras, I send my patients to Rigby and Peller (not sure if there is one near you). They can also offer you for tips about proper bra fitting. Hope that this helps! Best, Dr. Kpodzo

Answer: You look excellent and cup sizes mean nothing Yes, you are overreacting negatively to a very nice result. No patient can pin their happiness on getting a cup size. There is no manufacturing standard nor is there a standard in how individuals measure you. Forget the cup size and love your result.
