Hi Brenda, Thank you for your question regarding what to do with your buttocks after silicone removal. After silicone removal from the buttocks, there are serval ways to reconstruct the buttocks. For mild buttock deformities after the removal of silicone from the buttocks, the most common way to reconstruct the buttocks is with autologous fat transfer. During autologous fat transfer, fat is removed from one area with liposuction and transferred to your buttocks. This is often called the Brazilian butt lift or BBL. For moderate to severe buttock deformities after the removal of silicone from the buttocks,, the best way to reconstruct the buttock is with buttock implants. You mentioned that you have no fat to transfer. Therefore, in your case, I would suggest buttock implants. Before you make any decisions regarding buttock reconstruction after the removal of silicone from the buttocks, I would suggest you seek consultation with an expert. Please seek an experienced, board-certified, plastic surgeon. Travel out of state if you must to find such an expert. If you have any more questions regarding buttock reconstruction, removal of silicone from the buttocks, or plastic surgery in general, please contact my office. Sincerely Dr. Katzen. Because of all the scar tissue left over after removal of silicone liquid injections, fat transfer is not a good option - it will surely all melt away. Thus, buttock implants are your only viable, relatively safe, and permanent option. Implants have actually had good success in your exact situation. Glad to help.
Hi Brenda90!I treat hundreds of silicone patients each year and many silicone removal revisions. With that said, I have never seen a patient rendered ineligible for fat transfer. Without a clinical evaluation, it's hard to say what options might be available for you. I am a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon with a specialized focus on silicone and biopolymer removal. Over the years, I have dedicated my practice to safely addressing complications arising from these materials. Recognizing the unique challenges they pose, I developed a removal and reconstruction technique that is designed to ensure the most complete removal possible while minimizing risks and optimizing patient outcomes. I'd be happy to see you for a clinical evaluation whether it be a complimentary virtual consultation or an in-office appointment to discuss your options. Please note – insurance can cover these procedures if your plan holds out of network coverage and the procedure is deemed medically necessary. My Silicone Coordinator can look into existing coverage during your initial call. (516) 279-2616Best of luck on your journey!
Silicone biopolymers are being used throughout the world for facial and body volume augmentation. Results are longer-lasting that Juvederm or Restylane. Bellafill and Artefill are known to cause granulomas and permanent nodules with swelling. This is not the case for everyone. Silicone biopolymers can also cause similar chronic inflammatory conditions. In my practice, I specialize in the removal of Bellafill and Artefill injections, in addition to silicone biopolymers, from the face and body. Initially, treatments are non-surgical with corticosteroids and immune modulators. If unable to be corrected, we can also perform surgery in some cases. Silicone biopolymers can also be removed from the body if there are signs of migration or inflammation. All of these filler-types should be removed as early as possible. Lastly, our office is conducting ongoing studies of plasma-assisted corticosteroid application, which allows for diffusion of the treatment medication in superficial tissue without causing atrophy. If you are concerned about the shape of your lower buttocks then a contouring procedure would be necessary. If you desiring more shapeliness then liposuction with fat grafting can be effective. If you desire more projection then a buttocks implant would be appropriate. Good luck
Hello dear!! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. Based on your photos you are a good candidate for butt implants. Buttock implants create a fuller, more shapely buttocks, helping patients achieve better proportion and a beautiful body contour. Depending on your preference, buttock implants can increase the size, roundness and projection.I recommend you to make an appointment with a board plastic surgeon for a good evaluation and to talk about your goals.Good luck :)
Hi Maddlady,I'm sorry to hear of your symptoms. One thing I have seen to be true is that silicone does travel throughout the body. We don't know exactly why and how (there is no actual medical research to refer to on this condition) but I can say that I see this in my practice very frequently....
