Hello! 24 year old done having kids wanting to inquire about a tummy tuck. I spent two years working out to get back to my pre pregnancy weight which I've done but none of the hard work shows In my stomach area because of the loose skin. My flanks also have a stubborn pocket of fat is it possible to get this removed AND a tummy tuck for a more Contoured appearance?
Answer: Should I get a mini tummy tuck or full? Congratulations on getting back to your pre-pregnancy weight. After pregnancies the rectus muscle does not always bounce back in every woman leaving some with bulging when they don't suck in their tummy. This can be corrected with a diastasic recti repair. It appears you may have this. The overlying loose skin and stretch marks you demonstrate in your photos extend to slightly above your belly button and are too much for a mini tummy tuck. A consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon would allow the surgeon to discuss with you the exact location of the scars, and need for liposuction contouring, and diastasic recti repair. Typically in my practice I try to keep the scars as low as possible so my patients can wear low cut jeans or a bikini. Hope this helps.

Answer: Tummy Tuck Based on your photos, I think you are a better candidate for a full tummy tuck. A tummy tuck will tighten the abdominal muscles and address the excess skin, giving your abdomen a flatter and more contoured appearance. A mini tummy tuck will not really address the loose abdominal tissues above your belly button. I recommend setting up a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to formulate a treatment plan that best meets your needs.

Answer: Tummy Tuck / Abdominoplasty for Women -- Rectus Muscle Plication, Excess Skin & Fat Excision, Minimal Scarring, Liposuction You need a formal evaluation by a licensed plastic surgeon and expert in abdominal surgery to determine what is best for you and your goals. The key to a successful tummy tuck (or abdominoplasty) is to address the multiple layers that are damaged with pregnancies or weight fluctuations. For most patients I will perform internal rectus muscle plication to flatten and tighten the abdominal wall while creating a better waistline. The excess abdominal skin and fat is then excised and tightened, leaving a low, discreet transverse scar. Keeping this scar as low as possible is important so my patients can wear normal bikinis and low-cut jeans. For many patients, I will use liposuction as an adjunctive procedure to further refine the torso. To accelerate recovery and reduce the risk of complications, I spend extra time placing progressive tension sutures to tack the abdominal tissues down to the abdominal wall and eliminate space for fluid to collect. I also use a medication called Exparel that is a local anesthetic that releases over a 3-day period; by injecting this carefully in the surgical areas, particularly where the muscle is tightened, I am able to dramatically reduce the immediate discomfort associated with abdominoplasties. Ideal candidates for this procedure are women who have had children or experienced extreme weight loss and were left with excess skin. During the evaluation, we will discuss your needs and identify the best abdominoplasty technique for you. I suggest consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon and expert in body contouring. - Dr. Cohen

Answer: Procedure Recommendation Thank you for your question. Based on your photos, you’re an excellent candidate for a tummy tuck with flank and back liposuction. This procedure will give you the flattest stomach possible, by correcting muscle separation to your abdomen, from having children, and removing the excess skin and fat. The flank and back liposuction, in addition to the tummy tuck, will contour your waist and give you an hourglass figure. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon, who can create a personalized plan for you. Best of luck!

Answer: Should I get a mini tummy tuck or full? From your photographs, you most likely would benefit from a full tummy tuck procedure with associated liposuction. One of the most common reasons why someone would want an Tummy Tuck is often due to the changes that have occurred during pregnancy. Some of these changes include loose or excess skin, excess fatty tissue and to a lesser degree, weakened or separated abdominal wall muscles. I recommend to book a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.
