6 months after septoplasty and bump on septum is still present - can this be corrected? (photos)

I had septoplasty about 6 months ago and since then I've had a hard bump/lump on my nasal septum. It is probably protruding cartilage. When I went for a check up visit 2-3 weeks after the operation, my surgeon simply said that I should not worry about it. But although it doesn't impact my breathing, it is bothering me psychologically. Could this be easily fixed? I'm really irritated with this bump.

It's possible this is a caudal septal deviation, which would not usually be addressed in a traditional septoplasty (the first one you had) and may not have been addressed either in your 2nd surgery... but it could also be due to the position of your lower lateral cartilage/medial crural...

This could be from cartilage damage or cartilage infection or surrounding soft tissue infection. You will need to see someone to evaluate the actual cause. It can probably be cut out and corrected surgically. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
