Thank you for your question. Using retin-a, or other retinoic acids cannot cause conjuctivitis as this is caused by a bacteria. Derivatives of vitamin a (retin-a, etc), however, can cause irritation to the skin, especially the delicate eye area. My best advice would be to apply outside of the orbital bone, and above the eye brow only as the product tends to travel slightly on its own. In other words, do not apply the product directly to the lid or too close to the lash lines. You will also want to seek medical treatment if you suspect you have conjuctivitis as it is highly contagious and can be transmitted easily. You will also want to avoid touching your facial area as much as possible until you have been treated by a physician because the bacteria can travel to the other eye and cause further infection. All the best to you, and be well.Dr. Todd Hobgood, MD
If the pox marks are only a month and a half old, don't do ANYTHING to them.Give Mother Nature a chance. We live in a world where we want to fix everything on an immediate basis.Tincture of Time is often the best healer.
Retin A is a great topical for acne and can be used for fine lines and mild wrinkles, but there are other treatments that could be a lot more effective for scars- either laser, peel, microneedling or some other treatment would improve your fine scars.
The answer is yes, but combined with high SPF during the day because retinoid products promote skin cell turnover and the new skin is delicate and should not be exposed to the sun.BestDr. Karamanoukian
