I am one week post liposuction on my sides. My right side has a pronounced divot that even blouses sink into. My left side is normal and has a consistant curve to it. How can I get rid of that divot on my right side? I am 19 year old female.
Answer: Liposuction and Complication Typically there should be no "divits" or "indentations" after the lipo procedure. Sometimes compression if worn incorrectly or given the wrong size, can cause depressions that are permanent. I suggest seeing your physician immediately. It is likely something that will resolve with massage and ultrasound, but typically patients I see who have this issue early (from referrals) I would use VelaShape to smoothen them out and prevent long term problems. Earlier treatment gives better skin tightening and helps remove irregularities and decrease sweating. If this does not resolve in 3-6 months a revision surgery may be needed or fat grafting. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Divot? Without examining you, it's hard to tell. It is possible that too much fat was removed in this area and there is a depression. To fix this, a surgeon may need to remove fat adjacent to the divot, and possibly graft some fat into the area. Please seek a surgeon that is experienced in this type of revision surgery.

Answer: Too early to tell Hi. At just one week out from liposuction, it's really too early to tell the exact result you are going to end up with. However, if that depression is still present 4-6 months after surgery, a revision may be indicated. Fat grafting can be used to fill in depressed areas, and additional liposuction can be used to take down high adjacent areas.

Answer: Correcting a divot. 1 week is too early to see what your final result will be. Patients may get deep creases in their skin due to their compression garments which causes them concern and over time these creases just fade away. Continue to follow up with your PS so the issue is known and should it still be present in 3-4 months when the final result is visible, it can be revised. Patience will be you friend here.
