I had a treatment & at my follow-up appointment a large hard mass was noticed. I was told it looked like I had a hernia. Advice?

After an ultrasound and mri I met with my doctor to find out I had a hernia less than 1 inch and the mass seems to be dead fat cells that have not been eliminated through my lymph system. When I had my consultation I made a point several times to mention that I had lymphedema on my lower right side due to a motorcycle accident in 2004. I was told this would not be a problem. Now I am left with a hard mass of dead fat about the size of a baseball.

Thank you for your question. Swelling can remain even at the 12 week mark. For some patients, it can take up to 3 months to see complete healing. Please be sure to visit your surgeon for follow-ups.

Those are the different phases of abdominal wall fluid that is made. Early on it is more bloody and later on it is more tissue fluid and seroma fluid. This is expected so you do not have to worry.

This depends upon your size and shape as well as on your surgeon, but somewhere around 3 to 5 hours might be average.  Best wishes.

There should not be any problem performing a tummy tuck now. In many occasions the hernia repair is done at the same time as the abdominoplasty but you need to ask you surgeon anyway.

Good Question. I have seen this before. It is likely a contact dermatitis related to the materials used in surgery, or the gauze and tape you have used. Generally the treatment is with topical steroids. A great choice is protopic - it doesn't thin the skin, and quickly will cool off the rash. ...

Hello, sight unseen it's difficult to understand the cause of the pigmentation you are describing. However, if it is not in the same area that was contoured using liposuction, it would seem unlikely that the two issues are related.
