Last April (2017), I accidentally lacerated a portion of skin next to my right eyebrow from the recoil of a rifle scope. I received 6 stitches from a walk-in clinic on the same day. Over time, the scar has widened. The scarred skin is also depressed, making it more noticeable. I was wondering what my options are for reducing its appearance? Is this a difficult area of the face to repair and might the scar widen again, especially with the various facial muscles in and around the area? Thank you.

Answer: Scar revision Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Based on your photographs, you may benefit from a surgical scar revision of your eyebrow scar. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
