I got lower abdomen + flanks lipo in November last year. I have 5 scars in total - how can I get rid of them? They are visible and (I wear swimsuits a lot) I was asked by my home doctor when I got lipoplasty done and it made me feel really embarrassed
Answer: Improving Scars with lasers, fillers, subcision and microneedling/prp Scars can be improved with a combination of lasers, microneedling/prp, subcision and fillers. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Laser treatment to flatten scars and reduce appearance of them Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Scar treatment A scar treatment plan can include utilizing lasers to address the pigmentation and texture. Additionally, using topical lightening cream and micro needling which stimulates the body's own collagen to tighten lift and rejuvenate skin can improve the area as well. A thorough exam of the scar is recommended in order too know what will be the best treatment option for you.

Answer: Scar optimization Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. You may be a candidate for a surgical scar revision. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Scar treatment Dear alohamighty, every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommend to his patients. I recommend my patients to use Biocorneum gel in order to reduce the scar. Maturation of the scar can last for 12-18 months after the surgery and once your scar is fully mature it should be less visible.
