What options do I have to correct post-op breast-lift asymmetry, outside of a full revision? My left breast (5 months post-op) has settled about a half inch lower than the right and is a half in greater in diameter and circumference. This didn’t seem to bother my surgeon, but it disturbs me especially when I wear fitted shirts. Right now, I wear a silicone falsy on only the right side when wearing a tight shirt. Thank you.
Answer: Post-op breast lift asymmetry solutions? Hello! Thank you for your question! Sorry to hear of your disappointment. Although attempts are made to give perfect symmetry, on rare occasions there may be slight differences and asymmetry. It appears that you have an excellent result, but can appreciate your stated concerns. If these bother you, you should certainly discuss this with your surgeon. At 5 mos postop, your final result is likely seen now. So, the only option would be a surgical revision. This may be done as an in-office revision with the goal to ameliorate your concerns and improve symmetry. Hope that his helps. Best wishes!

Answer: Breasts Breasts are usually not completely symmetrical and often one has a larger diameter that the other. The bases of your breasts cannot be changed. Also, the lower nipple may be due to posture, with one shoulder being lower than the other. I'm sure your surgeon measured the location for each nipple from your sternal notch to be even. In both photos, your lower nipple is on the lower shoulder side. This is not corrected by a revision.

Answer: Post-op breast lift asymmetry Dear Cat506,Women’s breasts have some degree of asymmetry. Some may be more noticeable than others. If you have breast asymmetry before breast augmentation surgery, there is a great chance that this will exhibit right after the surgery. If the asymmetry becomes more noticeable after breast augmentation or lift surgery, a revision may be needed to correct the asymmetry. In most cases, the revision involves correction in both breasts. For example, large breasts can be reduced to a more manageable size, but the amount of reduction might differ between each breast if one happens to be naturally larger than the other. The same can be said if a person wants to augment their small breasts to a larger size: one might be augmented more than the other. You should discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon. Make sure your surgeon understands your goals. Answer: Your asymmetry is easily appreciated and I'm sorry your surgeon feels otherwise. There are simple in-office fixes and if you have a scar across the bottom, use it to remove tissue from the larger side to make them or even. If you like the larger side better, then you're looking at fat grafting the smaller side to help diminish the differences. So there are simple fixes but this requires that your surgeon appreciate your concerns. Perhaps you could negotiate with your willingness to post your photos as an online review, representative of your surgeon's work and judgment... maybe that would help him/her appreciate your concerns better.

Answer: Several possible solutions. Thank you for your question. I am sorry you are unhappy with your result. I recommend discussing with your plastic surgeon your concerns, getting reevaluated, and exploring possible solutions. Based on the photos, I can see the asymmetry you describe. One option would be to place an implant or fat graft in the left breast to try to match the size of the right, and the other would be to try to reduce the right breast to match the one on the left. These options would likely require another trip to the operating room.
