Hello, I am considering a deep plane facelift with the temporal brow lift. I met with a few surgeons and found out that there is a risk of hair loss due to the placement of the incision for the temporal brow lift. I am curious if people have experienced permanent hair loss from the procedure?

This is a great question. While hair loss is listed as a potential risk with a temporal brow lift, permanent loss is quite uncommon. In many cases, any thinning that occurs is due to the normal stress of surgery placing the follicles into a temporary resting phase (telogen effluvium). When that happens, the hair typically grows back on its own over the following 3–18 months.

When you meet with surgeons, it’s completely appropriate to ask whether they’ve seen this in their own patients and how they manage incision design and tension to minimize risk. Choosing someone experienced in brow lift techniques can also help reduce the likelihood of noticeable hair changes.
